And with strange aeons even death may die. Thanatos, in Greek culture, is the personification of death that is said to predate the life and death cycle. The fight between Kratos and Thanatos also involves Deimos, who Kratos saved from falling off a cliff. This fight, which took place in God of War: Ghosts of Sparta, was one of the few where Kratos had help.
Deimos is gravely injured in the battle, fueling Kratos' Spartan Rage. He murders Thanatos in a vengeful attack by ripping Thanatos' chest open and impaling him.
The Hades we see in the God of War series is a bit different than the charismatic Disney version. Hades, God of the Underworld, is much larger and more frightening than his Disney counterpart. Though redesigned after the first game, all iterations of Hades terrify and intimidate. There are also other differences, such as the way he fights Kratos in the game.
For starters, Hades is obsessed with trying to steal Kratos' soul in the games. In the end, Kratos responds by murdering him, as one does. Kratos rips out the God of the Underworld's soul, killing him with the claws. She's designed to be a character with wings and armor who also resembles Marvel depictions of Hela , the Asgardian Goddess of Death. Persephone, however, joined Hades as the Queen of the Underworld.
The fight between Kratos and Persephone is an epic battle. It takes place at the end of God of War: Chains of Olympus as the final boss fight.
Persephone uses flight for enhanced maneuvering and conjures sizable rocks to hurl at Kratos. The battle concludes with Kratos pulverizing Persephone to death using the Gauntlet of Zeus. He might not look like much, but Helios is one of the most powerful gods in existence.
The death of Helios was a brutal one with the player controlling Kratos throughout the ordeal. Alternating the L1 and R1 buttons, the player tears Helios' head off of his body entirely. Helios screams in agony after his head is detached from his body. Naturally, the head of Helios becomes an item in the game, despite the God of the Sun being deemed dead. Athena, disappointed in Kratos, walks away in her spiritual form.
A fan theory suggests that Athena is God of War's main villain. Using Helios's power, the Titan attempted to destroy the Pillar of the World. Thanks to Kratos's intervention, Atlas was chained to the weakened pillar and forced to carry the world on his shoulders. Ceryx is the son of Hermes and the final boss in the mobile game God of War: Betrayal. He attempts to warn Kratos about the consequences of his actions as the God of War, delivering the message from Zeus, but Kratos killed him.
Kratos was on the hunt for a mysterious assassin, who ultimately got away thanks to Ceryx interference. Cronos is the father of Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, and Hades.
Eos is the sister of Helios and plays a small, but important, role in the plot of God of War's story. Eos also gives Kratos the Light of Dawn ability. Since Eos did not reappear in God of War 3, her current fate is unknown. Gaia is the grandmother of Zeus, making her the great-grandmother of Kratos.
She raised Zeus until he was fully grown, but in the Great War, Zeus betrayed Gaia and banished her along with the other Titans. Gaia and the other Titans were brought forward in time by Kratos from the Great War to launch a surprise attack on Olympus.
In God of War 3 , Gaia reveals to Kratos that he was a pawn of the Titans so that they could launch an attack on Olympus. Kratos wounded Gaia, and while she was presumed dead, she returned during the final battle of Zeus and Kratos. Continuing their fight inside of her body, Kratos impaled Gaia's heart with the Blade of Olympus, officially killing her.
Kratos kills Hades in God of War 3 , taking his Claws of Hades weapon and releasing all of the souls in the Underworld.
Hades is one of the four gods players can pledge allegiance to in Ascension's multiplayer. Helios was kidnapped by Atlas on behalf of Persephone in Chains of Olympus but was later rescued by Kratos. Krato decapitated Helios shortly thereafter, using his head as a weapon to reveal doorways and blind opponents. Hephaestus is the father of Pandora, creator of Pandora's Box, and husband of Aphrodite.
Zeus had beaten Hephaestus and trapped him in the Underworld's forge for lying to him about Pandora and Pandora's Box creation. Hephaestus tricked Kratos into fighting Cronos, hoping that it would kill the Ghost of Sparta.
After defeating Cronos and returning to Hephaestus, the Smith God tried killing Kratos but was killed instead. The Immortal Greek Gods of Olympus Immortals are beings that are immune to all weapons and any kind of damage that would easily kill mortals and magical beings.
The majority of the immortal beings in the series are listed below: Primordials : Ancient, cosmic deities that created the Earth and universe, thought to be the first and most powerful of immortal species. Titans : A race of elemental giants descending from the Primordials that reigned during the Golden Age of Mankind, and birthed the gods who eventually overthrew them.
Separated between the warlike Aesir and pacifistic Vanir. The Valkyries : A mysterious race of winged female warriors of unknown origin. They were given the job of escorting the great heroes who had died in battle to Valhalla by Odin. The Furies : An independent race of three female beings that came to be after the great battle of the Primordials; Megaera , Alecto , and Tisiphone were each immortal yet were ultimately slain by Kratos to break his blood oath with Ares.
Users of the Ambrosia : Any who consume the divine Ambrosia are stated to attain immortality. Maybe it was this first trip there that really inspired him to keep returning. Despite being the game that started it all, Kratos only kills one notable Olympian: Ares. He used to be so focused when it came to his revenge. These days he just kills everything. Ghost of Sparta is all about family. I haven't done any research on this hypothesis, but I think I may be the only person who played God of War: Betrayal on my Kyocera flip-phone.
You only kill one notable Olympian, and he's the son of the son of Zeus, so he was very important. Prometheus, former Titan who gave the humans fire.
Athena, Goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, just warfare, mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts, and skill.
